Earlier this spring, I had the opportunity to visit the Wish Well House during an open house. I was dying to visit it every time I drove past to get my coffee at 309. It did not disappoint! It’s coming up on its one year of business and doesn’t seem to be slowing down!

About the Venue:

The owners of the Wish Well House, as well as The Union on Eighth, opened the venue in 2021. The historic venue has been through its ups and downs as it has been through years of planning, construction, snow storms, COVID, and I’m sure much more that has gone on behind the scenes. Despite the odds, they’re here and it has been such a joy to experience!

It was built out of what was originally the home of Sheriff Lee O. Allen. Over the years, the historic building was left vacant for decades right off Georgetown square. It lives vibrantly and is full of life now that Katy and Justin have stepped in.

While I’m not sure the inspiration they pulled from, the venue has a slight Louisiana style that lands perfectly in the Texas town. There are tall ceilings, original wood floors, and tons of effortless patterns and colors. The venue does a great job at allowing space for minimalist clients and those who love color. As I walked through the Wish Well, I found myself drawn to all the little pockets of detail placed throughout the venue.

Based on the information given by the Wish Well website, they can host 300 guests throughout the open concept courtyard, cocktail lounge, and main hall. Along with the main social areas, there are two private suites for both sides of the wedding party. One private suite has softer florals and feminine touches to the room with a stunning four mirrored vanity.

The other suite offers a more lounge, game room vibe that is complete with a TV and foosball table.

Why You Should Book the Wish Well House

Despite being a wedding venue, the Wish Well house has done a great job connecting with the Georgetown community. In their first year of business, they have had open houses, cocktail hours, and other events to invite people to come in and visit. I got to partake in this and it was such a fun experience. I was able to meet and see other vendors’ work (I’ll do my best to list them below), listen to music, and explore the grounds. Everyone I ran into was very kind and the venue is stunning.

The venue itself functions amazingly. When you walk in the door you have the cocktail lounge. It then opens up into the main hall, with the highest ceilings and gallery-style length room. From both of these locations, there are large doors and windows that open up to the courtyard where you can have your ceremony or reception activities. The positive to this is if something were to change in wedding day plans, you can easily shift things around and there is plenty of space to accommodate last-minute. For example, if you wanted your wedding outside, and it starts raining it wouldn’t be difficult to bring everything inside and you wouldn’t need to invest in anything like a tent or awning.

Design-wise, I really haven’t seen many weddings like the Wish Well. Venues tend to be super rustic or industrial in Texas. Wish Well somehow combines the two and brings in a little bit of a French-Louisiana design touch to it. It really is a special place to get married, and based on their 5 start ratings online, you really can’t go wrong booking it.
