Summer is coming to an end and this year I had committed to finding comfortable locations for my client’s lifestyle sessions. While amazing photos are the end goal, the experience shooting them is just as important for my clients and me.
Studio options are great for many reasons. They have accessible restrooms, unlimited creativity, no humidity, and the most obvious reason: it’s not hot. All the Texas photographers rejoice at the sound of air conditioning.
I have been photographing weddings and families in the DFW and the greater Austin area for about 10 years now. The use of studios have become more popular and dare I say, almost essential to us in the south. So here is a list of my top 3 favorite studios that I use for my clients for lifestyle sessions, bridal sessions, and even branding.
3. The Lumen Room – Leander and Austin, Texas
The Lumen Room is one of the OG photo studios that have been around for a while. Their strengths are that they have multiple locations across Texas and in Austin. They have it figured out for the staples of what most clients need: simple architecture, simple furniture, white, bright, natural light, and classic amenities (like bathrooms and speakers to play music).
2. The Spot Studio – North Austin Pflugerville, Texas
The Spot Studio opened in 2023 and is run by another fellow photographer Stonehouse Photo! This space is so versatile and has multiple spaces and corners inside to accommodate every need, from paper backdrops to holiday sets to an open and airy room. The location is easy to get to and is super clean. You can tell that this studio was made for, and by, a photographer who knows what her clients are looking for.
3. The Living Room – Leander, Texas
The Living Room Leander is a special one. Perhaps it’s my current favorite because it’s newer, but there’s an ambiance to this space that is incredibly welcoming and feels more like a community space than just a rental. It’s right off of 183a in Leander, but you’d never know it based on how the home (renovated into a rental space) is set up. It is still incredibly quiet and has those classic, historic details that we all love. To the traditional glass windows, to the wooden floors, this space speaks for itself! And to top it off, it still has one of those bright and airy rooms that has almost wall-to-wall windows. It’s a great space to feel at peace and calm. The Studio space will soon have a creative room for kids and have workshops for the community to come in when it’s not being used as a photography studio, really leaning into its purpose, and that is why it is my favorite!
